An Early XIX Century Urn Stand
Intricately fretted from solid mahogany.
Typically a stylish Sheffield plated tea urn would be placed on the stand.
The slide at the front would be extended by pulling the “axe head “ brass handle forward and a Victorian porcelain tea cup would be placed on the slide to be filled with tea from the urn.
This item would date from approximately circa 1820, the solid mahogany would have been thinly cut to construct this wonderful piece then laminated together in sections of three to give strength and rigidity to this delicate item.
